About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Chemist with a strong background in synthetic organic chemistry to join their expanding R&D department in Sheffield . This role is focused on designing and synthesizing novel chemical entities for applications in advanced materials and specialty chemicals. You will be responsible for developing innovative synthetic routes, troubleshooting complex chemical challenges, and contributing to the intellectual property portfolio of the company. Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute multi-step synthetic routes to prepare novel organic molecules.
- Optimize reaction conditions to improve yield, purity, and efficiency.
- Characterize synthesized compounds using a range of analytical techniques, including NMR, MS, IR, and HPLC.
- Troubleshoot synthetic challenges and develop creative solutions to overcome synthetic obstacles.
- Stay current with the latest literature in synthetic organic chemistry and identify new methodologies.
- Collaborate with process chemists and engineers to assess scalability of developed routes.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of post-doctoral or industrial experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
- Proven expertise in modern synthetic methodologies and reaction mechanisms.
- Proficiency in analytical techniques for compound characterization.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a rigorous approach to experimentation.
