Senior Research Fellow - Genetics

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and scientifically astute Senior Research Fellow to join their pioneering Genetics research group located in Manchester . This role is instrumental in advancing our understanding of complex genetic disorders and developing novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. You will take a leading role in designing and executing research projects, analyzing complex genomic data, and contributing to the translation of research findings into clinical applications. Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage research projects focused on human genetics and genomics.
• Perform advanced data analysis on large-scale genomic datasets, including GWAS, whole-genome sequencing, and exome sequencing.
• Develop and validate new molecular and bioinformatic tools for genetic analysis.
• Collaborate with clinicians and other researchers to integrate genetic findings into patient care pathways.
• Supervise and mentor junior research staff and graduate students involved in genetic research projects.
• Prepare manuscripts for publication in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present findings at scientific meetings.

Requirements

• PhD in Genetics , Genomics, Bioinformatics, or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 6 years of relevant research experience, including significant experience with human genetic studies.
• Demonstrated expertise in statistical genetics and population genetics principles.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, or Perl, and experience with bioinformatics pipelines.
• Strong understanding of molecular genetics techniques and their application.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration in a lab setting.
