About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Research Scientist with a specialization in Bioinformatics to join their pioneering research team. Operating in a fully remote capacity, you will play a crucial role in analyzing and interpreting complex biological datasets, including genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics, to drive critical discoveries. This position requires a strong analytical mindset, exceptional programming skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively across distributed teams. You will contribute significantly to advancing our client's research objectives from your home base, making a tangible impact on scientific progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement advanced bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of large-scale biological data, including next-generation sequencing (NGS) data.
- Perform in-depth statistical analysis and interpretation of genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic datasets to identify key biological insights.
- Collaborate effectively with wet-lab scientists and other researchers to define analytical goals and translate research questions into computational strategies.
- Develop and maintain robust, reproducible code and documentation for bioinformatics workflows.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in bioinformatics tools, algorithms, and methodologies, and apply them to relevant research challenges.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in bioinformatics research, with a strong focus on analyzing diverse biological data types.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Perl, and experience with relevant bioinformatics libraries and packages.
- Demonstrated experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Singularity) is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in a remote , team-oriented environment.
