About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Research Scientist specializing in Bioinformatics to join their cutting-edge R&D department in Leicester . Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement sophisticated bioinformatics pipelines for analyzing large-scale genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data.
• Develop and apply statistical models and machine learning algorithms to identify significant biological patterns and biomarkers.
• Collaborate with experimental biologists and clinicians to interpret data and guide experimental design.
• Contribute to the preparation of research findings for publication in high-impact journals and presentations at international conferences.
• Mentor junior scientists and provide technical leadership on bioinformatics projects.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in bioinformatics, genomics, and computational biology tools and methodologies.

Requirements

• PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in bioinformatics research .
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with bioinformatics software and databases.
• Strong understanding of statistical analysis , machine learning techniques, and biological pathways.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and high-performance computing environments.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a passion for scientific inquiry.
