Senior Research Scientist - Computational Biology

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Research Scientist to join their cutting-edge Computational Biology team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the UK. You will be instrumental in developing and applying advanced computational methods to analyse complex biological datasets, driving discoveries in areas such as genomics, proteomics, and systems biology. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of scientific innovation, a passion for tackling challenging biological questions, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a distributed, high-performing team, contributing to our client's mission to push the boundaries of scientific understanding and translate findings into impactful solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement computational and statistical analyses for large-scale biological data (e.g., next-generation sequencing, mass spectrometry).
• Develop novel algorithms and software tools to address specific research questions in genomics and related fields.
• Collaborate with experimental biologists and bioinformaticians to interpret results and plan future experiments.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in computational biology, machine learning, and bioinformatics techniques.
• Communicate research findings through presentations, publications, and technical reports to both scientific and non-scientific audiences.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Proven experience in designing and executing complex bioinformatic pipelines and analyses.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with relevant scientific libraries.
• Strong understanding of statistical modelling, machine learning algorithms, and data visualization techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously in a remote setting.
