Senior Research Scientist - Drug Discovery

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic Senior Research Scientist specializing in Drug Discovery to join their innovative R&D team in Bristol . This role is pivotal in identifying and validating novel therapeutic targets and developing innovative drug candidates. You will be responsible for designing and executing a range of biological assays, working with various technology platforms, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive projects from early discovery through to preclinical development. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in pharmacology or a related discipline, coupled with a proven track record in a drug discovery setting. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, execution, and optimization of biological assays for target identification and validation.
• Develop and implement high-throughput screening (HTS) assays to identify novel drug leads.
• Conduct mechanism-of-action studies to characterize the efficacy and safety of drug candidates.
• Analyze and interpret complex experimental data, and present findings to project teams and senior management.
• Collaborate effectively with chemists, pharmacologists, and other scientists across disciplines.
• Contribute to the strategic planning and direction of drug discovery programs.

Requirements

• PhD in Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related life science field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the drug discovery field, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
• Proven expertise in designing and executing various biological assays, including biochemical, cellular, and phenotypic assays.
• Hands-on experience with drug discovery technologies such as HTS, lead optimization, and target-based drug development.
• Strong understanding of pharmacology, disease biology, and relevant therapeutic areas.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
