Senior Research Scientist - Neuroscience

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Senior Research Scientist with expertise in Neuroscience to join their cutting-edge research facility in Norwich . This role is instrumental in advancing our understanding of neurological disorders and developing novel therapeutic strategies. You will lead independent research projects, design and conduct complex experiments, and contribute to the interpretation of findings to guide future research directions. The ideal candidate will possess a deep passion for neuroscience research, coupled with robust experimental skills and a strong publication record.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and analyze complex experiments investigating neural circuits, synaptic function, and neurological disease mechanisms.
• Develop and implement advanced techniques, including electrophysiology, in vivo imaging, and molecular biology assays.
• Interpret experimental data, draw meaningful conclusions, and formulate new hypotheses.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external collaborators to advance research programs.
• Mentor and guide junior researchers and technicians, fostering scientific development.
• Prepare manuscripts for publication in high-impact scientific journals and present findings at conferences.

Requirements

• PhD in Neuroscience, Biology, or a related life science field.
• A minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral research experience in neuroscience.
• Proven expertise in at least one major area of neuroscience research (e.g., molecular, cellular, systems, cognitive).
• Hands-on experience with key neuroscientific techniques (e.g., patch-clamp electrophysiology, calcium imaging, optogenetics, animal models).
• Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and written/verbal communication skills.
