Senior Research Scientist, Oncology

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Scientist to join their cutting-edge Oncology research team based in Birmingham . This role is crucial for advancing their pipeline of novel cancer therapies, focusing on preclinical research and target validation. You will be instrumental in designing and executing experiments that investigate tumor biology, identify novel therapeutic targets, and assess the efficacy of potential drug candidates. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of cancer pathways and a passion for translational research, contributing to a collaborative environment dedicated to making a difference in the lives of cancer patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and conduct complex in vitro and in vivo studies to investigate cancer mechanisms and therapeutic strategies.
• Develop and validate new assays for screening and evaluating anti-cancer compounds.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data, generating comprehensive reports and presentations for internal review and publication.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including medicinal chemists and pharmacologists, to advance drug candidates.
• Contribute to the scientific strategy and direction of the oncology research program.
• Mentor junior research staff and oversee laboratory operations.

Requirements

• PhD in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant research experience, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
• Extensive knowledge of cancer biology , signaling pathways, and immunotherapy.
• Hands-on experience with techniques such as cell culture, Western blotting, qPCR, flow cytometry, and animal models.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot experiments and develop innovative solutions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to present scientific data effectively.
