Senior Research Scientist - Oncology

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Senior Research Scientist to contribute to their pioneering Oncology research program in Oxford . This role is crucial for advancing novel therapeutic strategies and deepening our understanding of cancer biology. You will lead key research initiatives, design and execute complex experiments, and analyze results to guide project direction. Working within a collaborative and innovative team, you will leverage your expertise to make significant contributions to the development of new cancer treatments from our state-of-the-art facility in Oxford, Oxfordshire .

Key Responsibilities

• Design and conduct cutting-edge experiments in cancer biology, focusing on mechanisms of tumor growth, metastasis, and response to therapy.
• Develop and validate novel assays for screening potential oncology drug candidates.
• Perform molecular and cellular biology techniques relevant to oncology research, including cell culture, gene editing, and protein analysis.
• Analyze and interpret complex experimental data, troubleshoot technical challenges, and propose innovative solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including medicinal chemists and pharmacologists, to advance oncology drug discovery projects.
• Contribute to the preparation of scientific reports, manuscripts, and presentations for internal and external audiences.

Requirements

• PhD in Oncology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant research experience in oncology or a related area.
• Proven expertise in cancer biology, including understanding of tumor microenvironment, signaling pathways, and resistance mechanisms.
• Hands-on experience with relevant laboratory techniques such as cell-based assays, molecular cloning, western blotting, and potentially in vivo models.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to experimental detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, essential for contributing to the vibrant scientific community in Oxford .
