Senior Scientist - Chemical Biology

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Scientist with expertise in Chemical Biology to join their innovative research and development team in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is critical for advancing our client's pipeline by designing and executing sophisticated chemical biology experiments to probe biological systems and identify novel therapeutic targets. You will lead research initiatives, contribute to strategic planning, and mentor junior scientists, working within a state-of-the-art laboratory environment. Key Responsibilities

• Design and conduct chemical biology experiments to investigate biological pathways and validate drug targets.
• Synthesize and characterize small molecules for biological screening and assay development.
• Develop and implement novel chemical probes and bioanalytical techniques.
• Interpret complex experimental data, draw conclusions, and propose next steps for research projects.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including medicinal chemists and biologists, to drive research objectives.
• Mentor and guide junior scientists, fostering a culture of scientific excellence and innovation.

Requirements

• PhD in Chemical Biology, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in chemical biology research.
• Proven expertise in designing and performing biochemical assays, target engagement studies, and cell-based assays.
• Strong background in synthetic organic chemistry and/or analytical chemistry techniques.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
