Senior Scientist - Molecular Biology

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Scientist specializing in Molecular Biology to join their innovative research team, operating remotely from Edinburgh . This role is crucial for developing and applying cutting-edge molecular techniques to support various research programs, including gene therapy, diagnostics, and fundamental biological research. You will be responsible for designing and executing complex experiments, troubleshooting technical challenges, and contributing to the interpretation of results. Key Responsibilities

• Design, optimize, and perform advanced molecular biology experiments, including PCR, qPCR, cloning, and Western blotting.
• Develop and validate new molecular assays for gene expression analysis, mutation detection, and protein quantification.
• Troubleshoot experimental issues and implement solutions to ensure project progression and data integrity.
• Analyze and interpret molecular data, generate clear reports, and present findings to the research team.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in molecular biology techniques and apply them to current research projects.
• Contribute to the writing of research protocols, manuscripts, and grant proposals.

Requirements

• PhD in Molecular Biology , Biochemistry, Genetics, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a molecular biology research setting.
• Expertise in standard molecular biology techniques and instrumentation.
• Strong experience with nucleic acid manipulation, DNA sequencing, and RNA analysis.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively in a remote environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
