Senior Scientist - Structural Biology

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Scientist specializing in structural biology to join their dynamic research team in Brighton . This critical role will focus on elucidating the three-dimensional structures of key biological macromolecules, providing essential insights for drug discovery and development. You will leverage state-of-the-art techniques, including X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), to drive understanding of molecular mechanisms. Key Responsibilities

• Lead projects focused on determining the structures of therapeutically relevant proteins and complexes using X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-EM .
• Develop and optimize protocols for protein expression, purification, and crystallization/vitrification.
• Analyze and interpret high-resolution structural data, generating detailed models.
• Collaborate closely with medicinal chemists and biologists to guide drug design efforts.
• Supervise and mentor junior scientists and technicians involved in structural biology studies.
• Contribute to the publication of findings in high-impact scientific journals and present at conferences.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in structural biology.
• Extensive hands-on experience with either X-ray crystallography or cryo-EM, including data collection and analysis.
• Proficiency in structure determination software (e.g., Phenix, CCP4, Relion).
• Experience with protein expression and purification techniques.
• Strong understanding of protein biochemistry and biophysics is essential.
