Senior Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly skilled Senior Security Engineer to join their expanding security team in Brighton . This role is focused on designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security solutions that protect the organisation's digital assets. You will work on cutting-edge security technologies, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and play a key role in enhancing the overall security posture. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with extensive experience in various security domains, eager to contribute to a secure and resilient technological infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage security infrastructure, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and VPNs.
• Develop and implement security automation solutions to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
• Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans, and coordinate remediation efforts.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior security engineers.
• Respond to and investigate security incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures.
• Collaborate with IT operations and development teams to ensure security best practices are integrated into systems and applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in security engineering or a similar technical security role.
• Strong proficiency in network security, endpoint security, and cloud security (AWS/Azure).
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for security automation.
• Deep understanding of security principles, protocols, and best practices.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CompTIA Security+, or GIAC certifications are a plus.
