Senior Security Operations Analyst

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Security Operations Analyst to enhance their threat detection and incident response capabilities within their Wolverhampton -based security operations centre (SOC). This role involves monitoring security alerts, investigating potential threats, and coordinating responses to minimise the impact of security incidents. You will be at the forefront of protecting the organisation's digital landscape, working with advanced security tools and collaborating with a dedicated team of security professionals. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced analyst to take on increased responsibility and contribute to a proactive and resilient security operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts from various sources, including SIEM, IDS/IPS, and endpoint detection systems.
• Investigate security incidents, analyse threat data, and determine the scope and impact of breaches.
• Perform forensic analysis to identify root causes and gather evidence for security incidents.
• Develop and refine incident response playbooks and procedures.
• Collaborate with IT and business units to implement remediation actions and prevent future occurrences.
• Mentor junior analysts and contribute to the continuous improvement of SOC operations and toolsets.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a Security Operations Centre (SOC) or incident response role.
• Strong understanding of network security , operating systems, and common attack vectors.
• Proficiency with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) and other security monitoring technologies.
• Experience with malware analysis and forensic investigation techniques.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, or GCIH are beneficial.
