Senior Security Operations Analyst

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Security Operations Analyst to enhance their security monitoring and incident response capabilities from their Reading office. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Security Operations Center (SOC), including threat detection, analysis, and escalation. You will play a key part in protecting the organization's digital assets by identifying and responding to security threats in a timely and effective manner. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cybersecurity operations and a keen eye for detail in identifying and mitigating security risks.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts from various sources (SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR) and perform initial analysis.
• Investigate and respond to security incidents, including containment, eradication, and recovery.
• Develop and refine threat detection rules and use cases for security tools.
• Participate in threat hunting activities to proactively identify sophisticated threats.
• Create incident reports and provide post-incident analysis to improve security posture.
• Collaborate with IT and other teams to implement security enhancements based on incident findings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) or similar security monitoring role.
• Proficiency with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar), IDS/IPS, and EDR solutions.
• Strong understanding of threat landscapes, attack vectors, and incident response methodologies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, or GIAC are a plus.
