Senior Security Operations Analyst

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Security Operations Analyst to join their security team in Plymouth . This role is critical for monitoring, detecting, and responding to cyber threats in real-time. You will be at the forefront of defending the organisation's digital assets, leveraging advanced security tools and analytical skills to identify and neutralize potential risks. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of threat landscapes and a passion for protecting systems and data from evolving cyber-attacks, contributing to a resilient security posture.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events from SIEM, IDS/IPS, and other security tools to detect and analyze threats.
• Investigate security incidents, perform root cause analysis, and develop containment and remediation strategies.
• Develop and refine security playbooks and incident response procedures.
• Conduct threat hunting activities to proactively identify and mitigate emerging threats.
• Collaborate with IT teams to implement security enhancements and address vulnerabilities.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior analysts within the SOC.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) or similar cybersecurity role.
• Proficiency in using SIEM tools, EDR solutions, and other security monitoring platforms.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and common attack vectors.
• Experience with incident response methodologies and digital forensics principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, GSEC, or GIAC are preferred.
