About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and proactive Senior Site Engineer to oversee key construction projects in and around Plymouth . This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical knowledge and leadership skills to ensure the efficient and safe execution of civil engineering works on site. You will be responsible for managing site operations, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring that all work adheres to project specifications, quality standards, and health and safety regulations. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to significant infrastructure and development projects in the beautiful coastal region of Devon .
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise all on-site civil engineering activities, ensuring work is carried out to programme and to the required quality standards.
- Set out and supervise engineering works, including earthworks, foundations, drainage, and external works.
- Ensure adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations on site, including site inductions and risk assessments.
- Maintain accurate site records, including daily reports, progress charts, and quality control documentation.
- Coordinate and manage subcontractors, materials, and plant effectively to optimize site operations.
- Liaise with the project management team, designers, and clients to resolve site-specific issues and ensure project objectives are met.
Requirements
- A degree or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in site engineering or a similar construction management role.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, surveying techniques, and site management practices.
- Proficiency in using setting out equipment and associated surveying software.
- Excellent understanding of health and safety legislation and its application on construction sites.
- Good communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills are essential for managing site operations.
