Senior Software Engineer - Backend Services

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Software Engineer specializing in Backend Services to join their innovative team. This role is based in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire , with the flexibility of remote work. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and high-performance backend systems that power our client's core products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, contribute to architectural decisions, and mentor junior engineers, playing a key role in delivering cutting-edge solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable and resilient backend services and APIs using modern programming languages and frameworks.
• Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code.
• Optimize application performance, database queries, and system architecture for scalability and reliability.
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and QA teams to deliver high-quality software features.
• Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and champion best practices in software development.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production environments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development .
• Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend language such as Java, Python, Go, or Node.js .
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Solid understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker).
