About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with a specialization in backend development to join their dynamic team in Leicester . This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and maintaining the robust server-side logic and APIs that power innovative applications. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including front-end developers, product managers, and QA engineers, to deliver high-quality, scalable, and efficient software solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable and reliable backend services and APIs using Python and relevant frameworks.
• Optimize application performance, database efficiency, and system architecture for high availability and rapid growth.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, adhering to industry best practices and participating actively in code reviews .
• Collaborate effectively with product and front-end teams to define requirements and deliver seamless user experiences.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production and development environments, ensuring system stability.
• Mentor junior engineers, sharing knowledge and fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in backend software development , with a strong focus on Python .
• Proven experience designing and implementing complex RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• Proficiency with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical challenges.
