About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with a specialization in backend development to join their innovative and collaborative team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in the UK while contributing to projects impacting their operations originating from Reading . You will design, develop, and maintain scalable and robust backend systems that power their core products. This role involves working with complex architectures, mentoring junior engineers, and driving technical excellence within the engineering department, ensuring the delivery of high-performance, reliable software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs using modern programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Python, Java, Node.js).
- Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and QA engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Optimize application performance, database queries, and system architecture for maximum efficiency and scalability.
- Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code, participating actively in code reviews and promoting best practices.
- Mentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance, and contribute to architectural decision-making.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development .
- Strong proficiency in at least one major backend programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Go, C#).
- Extensive experience with database technologies (SQL and NoSQL), caching mechanisms, and distributed systems.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.
