About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer (Backend) to contribute to their core product development efforts in Stoke-on-Trent . You will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying scalable and robust backend systems that power their innovative platform. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs using languages like Java, Python, or C#.
- Build and optimize database schemas, write efficient queries, and ensure data integrity and security.
- Collaborate with frontend developers and product managers to define and implement new features and functionalities.
- Implement robust testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure reliability and availability.
- Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and contribute to architectural decisions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend software engineering.
- Strong proficiency in at least one major backend programming language (e.g., Java, Python, C#, Node.js).
- Extensive experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
