Senior Software Engineer - Backend

About the Role

Our client is looking for a seasoned Senior Software Engineer with a specialization in back-end development to join their thriving engineering department in Manchester . In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable and high-performance server-side applications and APIs that power our flagship products. You will work closely with architects, front-end developers, and product owners to deliver robust solutions that meet demanding technical and business requirements. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain robust, scalable, and secure back-end services and APIs using languages like Java, Python, or Go.
• Design and optimize database schemas and queries for performance and scalability.
• Implement and adhere to best practices in coding, testing, and documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring code quality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production environments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in back-end software development.
• Strong proficiency in one or more back-end programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Node.js, C#).
• Solid experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases.
• Understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills.
