Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Software Engineer with a specialization in backend development to join their growing technology division in Derby . You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable and robust server-side applications and APIs that power their core products. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable backend services and APIs using modern programming languages and frameworks.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code, ensuring high standards of quality and maintainability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and frontend engineers, to define and implement new features.
• Optimize application performance, database interactions, and system architecture for scalability and reliability.
• Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in development, testing, and production environments.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional experience in backend software development.
• Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Python, Java, C#, or Go.
• Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Solid understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
