Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer with a specialization in backend development to join their innovative team in Cardiff . You will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and high-performance server-side applications and APIs. Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable backend code using languages like Java, Python, or C#.
• Develop and integrate with complex databases, ensuring data integrity and performance.
• Create and manage robust RESTful APIs that serve internal and external applications.
• Implement security and data protection best practices within the codebase.
• Collaborate with front-end developers and product managers to define and ship new features.
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring code quality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring system stability and performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development .
• Strong proficiency in at least one major backend programming language and associated frameworks.
• Deep understanding of database systems (SQL/NoSQL), caching mechanisms, and message queuing.
• Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization tools.
