About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with a specialization in distributed systems to join their innovative team in Plymouth . You will be instrumental in designing, developing, and scaling complex, high-throughput systems that are resilient and fault-tolerant. This role requires a deep understanding of concurrency, networking, and large-scale architecture, offering a significant impact on the performance and reliability of our client's core platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement highly scalable, resilient, and fault-tolerant distributed systems .
- Develop efficient algorithms and data structures for large-scale data processing and real-time systems.
- Optimize system performance, latency, and resource utilization in complex environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and architectural approaches.
- Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code in languages like Go, Java, or C++.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose complex issues in distributed environments, implementing effective solutions.
- Contribute to architectural decisions, technology selection, and the establishment of engineering best practices.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience.
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong focus on building and operating distributed systems .
- In-depth knowledge of concurrency, parallelism, networking protocols, and consensus algorithms.
- Proven experience with at least one high-performance programming language such as Go, Java, or C++.
- Experience with message queuing systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) and distributed databases.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
