Senior Software Engineer

Location Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire Salary up to £50,000, depending on experience Hybrid working 3 days/week on-site

Renishaw is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the core team developing MODUS IM, our next-generation metrology software platform. Working in a multidisciplinary engineering environment, you will help create software that supports advanced manufacturing and precision measurement applications used by customers worldwide.

You will work with a large, modern C#/.NET codebase, contributing to application architecture, new product capabilities and the resolution of complex technical challenges involving geometry, data processing and visualisation. Collaborating with software engineers, product specialists and metrology experts, you will deliver robust, maintainable solutions and have the opportunity to influence the product’s technical direction and future development.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high-quality software across the MODUS IM product.

• Contribute to architectural decisions and help evolve a scalable, maintainable application design.

• Deliver new features and enhance existing functionality within a substantial C#/.NET codebase.

• Apply mathematical and geometric principles to solve complex problems in data processing and visualisation.

• Work collaboratively with software engineers, product specialists and domain experts to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.

• Participate in code reviews, testing and technical discussions to maintain high standards of software quality.

• Support continuous improvement across development processes, tools and engineering practices.

What you will bring

• Strong working knowledge of C# and .NET development.

• Sound understanding of object-oriented programming principles and application architecture.

• Experience applying established software engineering processes across the development lifecycle.

• Confidence working with mathematics and linear algebra to solve software problems.

• Ability to analyse complex technical requirements and develop clear, practical solutions.

• A collaborative approach, with clear communication skills and a commitment to producing high-quality, maintainable software.
