Senior Solar Farm Operations Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and proactive Senior Solar Farm Operations Manager to oversee their expanding portfolio of solar energy facilities in and around Manchester . This critical role involves ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of large-scale solar power plants. You will lead a dedicated team of technicians and engineers, manage maintenance schedules, and implement strategies to maximize energy generation and operational efficiency. This position requires a hands-on approach and a deep understanding of solar PV technology and grid integration, playing a vital part in the UK's renewable energy infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations and maintenance of multiple solar farms, ensuring maximum uptime and energy output.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans and corrective action strategies for all solar assets.
• Supervise and train site personnel, including technicians, engineers, and contractors, ensuring high performance standards.
• Monitor plant performance using SCADA systems and other monitoring tools, analyzing data to identify areas for improvement.
• Oversee health and safety protocols, ensuring compliance with all site-specific and regulatory requirements.
• Manage budgets, vendor relationships, and procurement for operational needs and spare parts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in operations and maintenance within the renewable energy sector , specifically solar farms.
• Demonstrated experience in managing technical teams and overseeing complex operational budgets.
• In-depth knowledge of solar PV systems , inverters, monitoring software, and grid connection requirements.
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to power generation sites.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
