Senior Solar PV Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for an accomplished Senior Solar PV Design Engineer to join their innovative team, operating fully remotely . This role is central to the design and technical specification of large-scale solar photovoltaic projects across the UK. You will lead the design process, ensuring optimal system performance, adherence to regulations, and cost-effectiveness. Working from home, you will collaborate with development, procurement, and construction teams to bring ambitious solar energy projects to fruition and drive the UK's clean energy targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the detailed design of grid-connected solar PV systems, including component selection and system sizing.
• Develop electrical single-line diagrams, layouts, and technical specifications.
• Perform energy yield assessments and financial modeling for solar projects.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant national standards, grid codes, and building regulations.
• Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to provide technical support during implementation.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Significant experience (7+ years) in the design of commercial and utility-scale solar PV systems.
• Proficiency in solar design software (e.g., PVSyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope).
• Strong understanding of electrical principles, inverters, battery storage, and grid connection requirements.
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to work independently in a remote setting.
