About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Sports Psychologist to join their performance division in Edinburgh . This vital role involves providing expert psychological support to athletes, coaches, and teams to optimize mental performance, resilience, and well-being within the competitive Leisure & Sports landscape. You will be instrumental in developing and delivering tailored mental skills training programs, crisis intervention, and performance enhancement strategies. The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of athletes at various levels, fostering a strong mental game that translates to tangible results on and off the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments to identify psychological strengths and areas for development in athletes and teams.
- Design and deliver evidence-based mental skills training programs, including stress management, focus enhancement, and goal setting.
- Provide individual and group counseling to address performance anxiety, confidence issues, and team dynamics.
- Develop strategies for injury recovery and return-to-play protocols from a psychological perspective.
- Collaborate with coaching staff and medical teams to integrate psychological support into overall athlete development.
- Conduct research and stay current with the latest advancements in sports psychology.
Requirements
- Doctorate in Sports Psychology or a closely related field (e.g., Clinical Psychology with a sports specialization).
- Professional registration or accreditation as a Sports Psychologist.
- Substantial experience working directly with athletes and sports teams at a professional or elite amateur level.
- Expertise in psychological assessment, intervention, and performance enhancement techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and ethical reasoning skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary performance team.
