Senior Stress Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Stress Engineer to join their advanced engineering team. This is a remote position, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere in the UK. You will be responsible for performing critical stress and structural analysis on complex mechanical components and systems, ensuring their integrity and performance under various operating conditions. This role requires a deep understanding of solid mechanics, finite element analysis (FEA), and material science, playing a vital part in the development of robust and reliable products for demanding applications, with a focus on precision and safety in Southampton .

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive stress analysis and structural integrity assessments using FEA software.
• Develop and validate analytical models to predict component behavior under static, dynamic, and thermal loads.
• Interpret analysis results and provide actionable recommendations for design improvements to engineering teams.
• Collaborate with design engineers to implement design changes that enhance structural performance and durability.
• Develop test plans for component validation and correlate simulation results with experimental data.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in FEA techniques and industry best practices.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience specifically in stress analysis and FEA .
• Expert proficiency with commercial FEA software packages (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, NASTRAN).
• Strong theoretical foundation in solid mechanics, material science, and fracture mechanics.
• Experience in analyzing components subjected to fatigue, creep, and buckling.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
