About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly competent Senior Structural Engineer to join their established team in Portsmouth . This critical role involves leading the structural design and analysis for a diverse range of building projects, from residential and commercial developments to industrial facilities. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, safety, and efficiency of structural designs, collaborating closely with architects and construction teams. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the structural design and analysis for building projects using various materials (steel, concrete, timber).
- Perform structural calculations and modelling using industry-standard software.
- Prepare detailed structural drawings, specifications, and design reports.
- Conduct site inspections during construction to ensure design compliance and quality.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, contractors, and other design consultants.
- Mentor and guide junior structural engineers and technicians.
Requirements
- Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural specialization.
- Minimum of 6 years' experience in structural engineering design.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards it with IStructE or ICE.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, Robot Structural Analysis, SAP2000).
- Thorough understanding of building codes, standards (e.g., Eurocodes), and construction practices.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
