About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join their engineering team in Plymouth . This role is critical for the design and integrity assurance of structural components and systems within various projects, primarily in the Oil & Gas and marine sectors. You will be responsible for leading structural analysis, design verification, and ensuring that all structures meet rigorous safety, performance, and regulatory standards. This is an excellent opportunity to apply advanced engineering principles, contribute to significant projects, and provide technical leadership within a dynamic engineering environment based in the South West of England.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed structural analysis using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software.
- Design and specify structural elements for platforms, modules, pipe racks, and other offshore/onshore facilities.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., DNV, AISC, Eurocodes).
- Prepare and review technical specifications, drawings, and calculations for structural designs.
- Provide structural engineering support during fabrication, installation, and hook-up phases.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including naval architects, process engineers, and project managers.
- Mentor and guide junior structural engineers, fostering technical development within the team.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in structural engineering, with significant exposure to the Oil & Gas or offshore industries.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as STAAD.Pro, ANSYS, or similar.
- Strong understanding of material science, mechanics of solids, and various structural design principles.
- Experience with offshore structures, including topsides and subsea components, is highly advantageous.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
