Senior Structural Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join their prestigious consultancy in Reading . This role involves leading the structural design aspects of complex building and infrastructure projects, from conceptual design through to detailed construction drawings and site support. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, safety, and efficiency of structural solutions, mentoring junior engineers, and liaising directly with clients and project teams. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design for a variety of building types, including commercial, residential, and public facilities.
• Perform complex structural analysis and calculations using advanced software and engineering principles.
• Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, and reports for structural elements in steel , concrete , and other materials.
• Oversee and mentor a team of structural engineers and technicians, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
• Provide expert technical advice and support during the construction phase, including site inspections.
• Collaborate effectively with architects, contractors, and other consultants to achieve project goals.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural specialization.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in structural engineering design.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, ETABS, Tekla Structural Designer).
• Thorough knowledge of Eurocodes and relevant UK building regulations and standards.
• Excellent leadership, project management, and client liaison skills.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with MIStructE or MICE is essential.
