Senior Structural Integrity Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a key player in the maritime and offshore sector, is seeking a dedicated Senior Structural Integrity Engineer to join their team in Plymouth . This role is crucial for ensuring the long-term structural integrity and safety of offshore platforms, vessels, and associated infrastructure within the oil and gas industry . You will be responsible for developing and implementing inspection, maintenance, and repair strategies based on thorough analysis of structural performance and degradation mechanisms. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of structural analysis, materials science, and risk-based inspection techniques.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage comprehensive structural integrity management (SIM) plans for offshore assets, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Conduct advanced structural analysis, including finite element analysis (FEA), to assess the performance of structures under various loading conditions.
• Analyze inspection data (e.g., NDT, UT, ROV surveys) to identify structural defects, assess their severity, and recommend appropriate repair strategies.
• Perform fatigue life assessments and fitness-for-service evaluations for aging offshore structures.
• Develop and implement risk-based inspection (RBI) programs to optimize inspection frequencies and resource allocation.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, contributing to a culture of safety and engineering excellence in Plymouth .

Requirements

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in structural integrity engineering, with a strong focus on offshore structures .
• In-depth knowledge of structural analysis techniques, fracture mechanics, and corrosion mechanisms.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS) and knowledge of NDT methods.
• Experience with developing and implementing Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) strategies.
• Excellent understanding of relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., DNV, API, ISO).
