About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly analytical Senior Subsurface Data Scientist to join their innovative team in Glasgow . In this pivotal role, you will leverage advanced data science techniques and machine learning algorithms to extract actionable insights from vast subsurface datasets, driving more informed decision-making across exploration and production activities in the energy sector . You will collaborate closely with geoscientists, reservoir engineers, and IT professionals to develop and deploy cutting-edge data solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and validate machine learning models for subsurface applications, such as seismic interpretation, property prediction, and production forecasting.
- Clean, process, and manage large volumes of heterogeneous subsurface data (seismic, well logs, production data, core data).
- Design and conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in subsurface datasets.
- Collaborate with domain experts to define data science problems and translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Build and maintain robust data pipelines and workflows for model deployment and monitoring.
- Communicate complex technical findings and insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Requirements
- PhD or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in data science, with a strong focus on applying ML to subsurface challenges.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with relevant libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
- Experience with big data technologies and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Strong understanding of statistical modelling, machine learning algorithms, and data mining techniques.
