Senior Support Worker (Elderly Care)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a compassionate and experienced Senior Support Worker to join their residential home for the elderly in Portsmouth . This role involves leading a team of support staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care to residents. You will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, mentoring junior staff, and maintaining the highest standards of dignity and well-being for all residents. This is a key position for an individual dedicated to providing excellent care within the Hampshire community.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of support workers, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
• Ensure that all care plans are accurately implemented and regularly reviewed to meet the individual needs of residents.
• Promote a positive and respectful environment for residents, encouraging their independence and social engagement.
• Administer medications in accordance with prescribed guidelines and organisational policies.
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of care, observations, and any incidents.
• Liaise effectively with residents' families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Support Worker , with at least 1-2 years in a senior or supervisory role, preferably in elderly care.
• A strong understanding of principles of good care practice and safeguarding vulnerable adults.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and effective in challenging situations.
• NVQ/QCF Level 3 or equivalent in Health and Social Care is essential.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including some weekends and evenings.
