Senior Support Worker (Mental Health)

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and empathetic Senior Support Worker with a specialization in mental health support to join their team in Wolverhampton . This leadership role involves providing enhanced support to individuals with complex mental health needs, while also guiding and mentoring a team of support staff. You will play a crucial part in fostering a recovery-oriented environment, promoting independence, and ensuring that clients receive person-centred care. Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct, high-quality support to clients with varying mental health conditions, assisting them with daily living and personal care as needed.
• Act as a mentor and role model for junior support staff, offering guidance, training, and supervision.
• Assist in the development, implementation, and review of individual support plans, focusing on recovery and rehabilitation.
• Manage challenging behaviours and crisis situations effectively, applying de-escalation techniques and adhering to care policies.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of client progress, interventions, and any incidents, reporting to management.
• Facilitate therapeutic activities and social engagement opportunities to promote client wellbeing and community integration.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Support Worker , with significant experience working with individuals with mental health challenges.
• Strong understanding of mental health conditions, recovery principles, and safeguarding procedures.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure, and to handle complex situations sensitively.
• Relevant qualifications such as NVQ/QCF Level 3 or higher in Health and Social Care are essential.
• A proactive approach to working within a team and contributing to service improvement in Wolverhampton .
