About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Support Worker to take on a leadership role within their supported living service in Portsmouth . This position is integral to overseeing the daily operations of the service, providing guidance to the support team, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional, person-centred care to adults with various needs. You will be responsible for mentoring junior staff, assisting with complex care scenarios, and contributing to the development of individual support plans. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead by example, enhance service quality, and shape the supportive environment for residents, blending hands-on care with supervisory responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and support to residents, addressing their physical, emotional, and social needs with empathy and respect.
- Mentor, guide, and supervise a team of support workers, ensuring high standards of care and professional conduct.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and review of individual support plans, incorporating resident preferences and goals.
- Take a lead role in managing challenging behaviours, de-escalation, and incident reporting.
- Conduct regular team meetings and contribute to staff training and development initiatives.
- Act as a key liaison between residents, families, external professionals, and management, fostering collaborative relationships.
Requirements
- Significant experience as a Support Worker , with at least 1-2 years in a senior or supervisory capacity.
- Demonstrated understanding of person-centred care principles and best practices in supported living.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in medication administration and management, and basic health monitoring.
- Willingness to work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends, and participate in an on-call rota if required.
- NVQ/QCF Level 3 or 4 in Health and Social Care is essential.
