About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Synthetic Organic Chemist to join their pioneering research division in Oxford . This role is dedicated to the design and execution of complex multi-step syntheses of novel chemical entities, supporting diverse R&D projects. You will be responsible for driving synthetic strategies, troubleshooting challenging reactions, and ensuring the efficient production of target molecules. Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute sophisticated synthetic routes for complex organic molecules, including natural products and novel drug candidates.
• Optimize reaction conditions to improve yield, purity, and scalability of synthetic processes.
• Perform thorough characterization of synthesized compounds using advanced spectroscopic techniques (NMR, MS, IR) and chromatographic methods (HPLC, GC).
• Troubleshoot complex synthetic problems and develop innovative solutions.
• Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory records, documenting all experimental procedures and results.
• Collaborate with other chemists and researchers to advance project goals and share expertise.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
• Proven expertise in modern synthetic methodologies, including asymmetric synthesis and C-H activation.
• Strong hands-on experience with purification techniques such as column chromatography and crystallization.
• Proficiency in structure elucidation using NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a commitment to meticulous laboratory practices.
