About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Synthetic Organic Chemist to join their advanced research and development facility in Bristol . This critical role involves designing and executing complex multi-step syntheses of novel chemical compounds for various applications. You will play a key part in advancing our client's product pipeline, working collaboratively within a dynamic R&D team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of modern synthetic methodologies, chiral chemistry, and purification techniques, coupled with strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to delivering high-quality results. Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute challenging multi-step synthetic routes to complex organic molecules.
- Optimize reaction conditions to improve yield, purity, and scalability of synthetic processes.
- Utilize a wide range of synthetic organic chemistry techniques, including asymmetric synthesis and catalysis.
- Characterize synthesized compounds using spectroscopic methods (NMR, MS, IR) and chromatographic techniques (HPLC, GC).
- Troubleshoot synthetic challenges and develop innovative solutions to overcome obstacles.
- Collaborate with analytical chemists and process engineers to ensure seamless scale-up and product development.
Requirements
- PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in synthetic organic chemistry, preferably within a pharmaceutical or fine chemical industry.
- Proven expertise in a broad range of organic reactions and synthetic strategies.
- Hands-on experience with advanced spectroscopic and chromatographic analytical techniques.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple synthesis projects simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality scientific data in Bristol .
