Senior Systems Administrator - Linux & Networking

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Systems Administrator with a strong background in Linux and Networking to manage and maintain their IT infrastructure in Bristol . You will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of servers, networks, and related systems. This role involves proactive monitoring, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing solutions to support the company's operational needs. You will work within a dedicated IT team, contributing to the reliability of critical systems and ensuring seamless IT operations for the entire organization, working from our client's well-equipped office.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Linux server environments (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS).
• Manage and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Implement and maintain system monitoring tools to ensure high availability and performance.
• Perform regular system updates, patching, and security hardening.
• Develop and maintain system documentation and operational procedures.
• Provide technical support to end-users and resolve IT-related issues promptly.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in systems administration or a similar IT infrastructure role.
• In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems and command-line tools.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, and firewall configuration.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM).
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
