About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly competent and experienced Senior Systems Administrator to manage and maintain their IT infrastructure in Norwich . This pivotal role involves overseeing the daily operations of servers, networks, and related computing environments, ensuring systems are secure, reliable, and performing optimally. You will be responsible for installing, configuring, and upgrading hardware and software, as well as troubleshooting complex technical issues. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of various operating systems and network protocols, a proactive approach to system maintenance, and a commitment to providing excellent IT support to all users, contributing to the smooth functioning of the entire organisation's technology landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade server hardware and operating systems (e.g., Windows Server , Linux).
- Manage network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Monitor system performance and proactively identify and resolve issues to ensure maximum uptime.
- Implement and maintain system security measures, including antivirus, intrusion detection, and patch management.
- Provide technical support to end-users, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network problems.
- Develop and maintain system documentation, including configuration details and operational procedures.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in systems administration or IT support.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux operating systems.
- Experience with network administration, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory.
- Proficiency in hardware troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
