Senior Systems Administrator

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Systems Administrator to manage and maintain their IT infrastructure in Plymouth . This role is crucial for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our client's systems, servers, and networks. You will be responsible for system upgrades, troubleshooting complex issues, implementing security protocols, and supporting end-users. We are looking for a highly organized and technically proficient individual who can manage diverse IT environments and contribute to a reliable and efficient technological backbone for the company, based in the scenic city of Plymouth .

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain server operating systems (Windows/Linux) and related infrastructure.
• Manage network devices, firewalls, and VPNs to ensure secure and reliable connectivity.
• Perform regular system backups, disaster recovery operations, and ensure data integrity.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and implement solutions promptly.
• Provide technical support to end-users and manage user accounts, permissions, and access.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration or IT support.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
• Experience with network configuration, virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud platforms.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and a proactive approach to system maintenance and security.
