Senior Systems Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced and innovative Senior Systems Mechanical Engineer to join their fully remote team, supporting operations from Southampton and beyond. This role focuses on the integrated design and analysis of complex mechanical systems, ensuring seamless functionality and optimal performance. You will play a key part in conceptualizing, developing, and validating systems that meet challenging technical requirements. This position is ideal for a senior engineer who thrives on solving complex interdisciplinary problems and can effectively contribute to a collaborative, remote-first environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and integrate complex mechanical systems, considering factors such as structural integrity, thermal management, and dynamics.
• Perform detailed system-level analysis, including trade-off studies, to optimize design choices.
• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for system validation and verification.
• Collaborate closely with electrical, software, and control engineers to ensure system coherence and functionality.
• Document system architecture, interfaces, and performance characteristics thoroughly.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers involved in systems mechanical design within the remote team structure.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with a specialization in systems engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in the design and analysis of complex mechanical systems.
• Proficiency in systems modeling and simulation tools, and expert knowledge of CAD and CAE software.
• Experience with configuration management and requirements traceability tools.
• Strong understanding of multidisciplinary design optimization and integration challenges.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, essential for success in a remote , distributed team environment.
