Senior Technical Artist - VFX

About the Role

Our client, an innovative game development studio situated in the scenic city of Plymouth , is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Artist with a specialization in Visual Effects (VFX). This critical role bridges the gap between art and programming, focusing on developing and optimizing cutting-edge VFX systems that enhance the visual fidelity and performance of their games. You will work closely with artists and engineers to implement complex visual effects, troubleshoot technical challenges, and create efficient pipelines. This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically adept artist to contribute significantly to the visual spectacle of games developed in our Plymouth studio.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and optimize high-quality visual effects (VFX) for game environments and characters using engine tools.
• Create and manage particle systems, shaders, and post-processing effects to achieve desired visual styles.
• Collaborate with art directors and game designers to define and achieve the target visual aesthetic.
• Develop and maintain art pipelines and tools to improve efficiency for the art team.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to art assets and VFX performance.
• Mentor junior technical artists and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Technical Artist , with a strong focus on VFX in game development.
• Proficiency with Unreal Engine or Unity, including their VFX editing tools (e.g., Niagara, Shuriken).
• Strong understanding of shaders, rendering pipelines, and optimization techniques.
• Experience with 3D modeling and texturing software (e.g., Maya, Substance Painter).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Graphics, Game Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience working in Plymouth .
