About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and versatile Senior Technical Artist to join their innovative team in Edinburgh . You will bridge the gap between art and technology, developing tools, pipelines, and workflows that empower the art team to create stunning visuals efficiently. This role is crucial for optimizing asset creation, ensuring technical performance, and solving complex challenges across art disciplines. You will play a key part in enhancing the development process and driving artistic quality in a studio renowned for its ambitious projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain custom tools, scripts, and plugins to streamline art production workflows.
• Optimize art assets (models, textures, shaders, VFX) for performance and memory budgets.
• Collaborate with engineers and artists to define and implement art pipeline improvements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to art asset integration and engine performance.
• Create and refine shaders, materials, and lighting setups to achieve desired visual aesthetics.
• Provide technical support and training to the art team on tools and workflows.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Technical Artist in games or real-time graphics.
• Strong proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, C#, or MEL.
• Expertise with 3D software (Maya, 3ds Max) and game engines (Unreal Engine, Unity).
• Solid understanding of rendering pipelines, shaders, and material creation.
• Experience with performance profiling and optimization techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
