Senior Telecoms Field Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Telecoms Field Engineer to join their dedicated team in Southampton . This role is hands-on, requiring you to provide on-site technical expertise for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment and networks. You will be the face of the company for many clients, ensuring their infrastructure operates at peak performance. This is a field-based position requiring regular travel within the Hampshire region and occasional visits to other sites, offering a dynamic work environment for those who thrive on practical problem-solving and direct customer interaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, test, and commission telecommunications equipment and systems at customer sites.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and emergency repairs on network infrastructure and associated hardware.
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to voice, data, and video communication systems.
• Provide on-site technical support and guidance to customers, ensuring their satisfaction with the services provided.
• Maintain accurate records of all site visits, work performed, and inventory usage within the company's systems.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Telecoms Field Engineer or in a similar hands-on technical support role.
• Strong knowledge of telecom infrastructure , including fibre optics, copper cabling, and associated transmission equipment.
• Experience with diagnosing and repairing faults on various telecommunications systems.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
• Full UK driving license and willingness to travel extensively within the designated service area.
