Senior Telecoms Network Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Telecoms Network Engineer to play a key role in managing and optimising their advanced network infrastructure in Oxford . This position is critical for ensuring the performance, security, and scalability of the company's telecommunications services. You will be responsible for complex network configurations, troubleshooting challenging issues, and contributing to the strategic planning of network upgrades and expansions. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of knowledge in network engineering and a proactive approach to maintaining robust telecoms operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage, monitor, and maintain the company's core telecoms network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Design, implement, and test network solutions to meet evolving business requirements and ensure high availability.
• Troubleshoot complex network problems, performing root cause analysis and implementing effective solutions.
• Develop and execute network upgrade and maintenance plans, minimising service disruption.
• Ensure network security policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior network engineers.

Requirements

• Significant experience as a Telecoms Network Engineer with a proven track record in network management.
• Expertise in routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), MPLS, and switching technologies.
• Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools, network security, and performance tuning.
• Strong understanding of telecommunications standards and best practices.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNP or CCIE are highly desirable.
