About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Telecoms Systems Administrator to manage and maintain their critical telecommunications infrastructure in Reading . This role involves overseeing the daily operations of our voice and data communication systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. You will be responsible for system configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and implementing upgrades to support business growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in administering telephony platforms, network devices, and related software, combined with excellent problem-solving skills and a commitment to maintaining seamless communication services for our organization, operating within a hybrid working model .
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, and maintain PBX systems, VoIP platforms, and other telecommunications hardware and software.
- Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize efficiency and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to voice and data communication systems.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls to ensure system security.
- Plan and execute system upgrades, patches, and configuration changes, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration, with a focus on telecommunications systems (e.g., Cisco Call Manager, Avaya, Asterisk).
- Strong understanding of VoIP protocols (SIP, H.323) and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with scripting for automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work effectively in a hybrid IT environment.
