About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced and strategic Senior Transport Planner to enhance their logistics operations based in Leeds . In this hybrid role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimising transport plans that ensure the efficient and cost-effective movement of goods across the UK. You will leverage your expertise in routing, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet operational demands while adhering to strict delivery windows and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine complex transport plans, including route optimisation and load planning for the company's fleet.
- Analyse transport data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction.
- Collaborate with operations, sales, and customer service teams to ensure seamless integration of transport plans with business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant transport legislation , including driver hours, vehicle maintenance, and road safety regulations.
- Manage and mentor junior transport planners, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and best practice.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to existing transport technologies and systems.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in transport planning or logistics management.
- Demonstrated ability to use advanced planning and optimisation software (e.g., Paragon, Descartes).
- Strong understanding of UK transport regulations and industry best practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is advantageous.
